
Alibaba Group said its strong fourth-quarter results were boosted by increasing user monetization, particularly on mobile devices, and the continued rapid growth of its China commerce retail business. Revenues rose 32 percent year-on-year to CNY 34.54 billion (USD 5.33 billion). The adjusted EBITDA was up 27 percent to CNY 19.11 billion. Net profit more than doubled to CNY 12.49 billion from 5.98 billion a year ago.
Revenue from the China retail marketplace increased 35 percent to CNY 28.74 million (USD 4.44 billion), while mobile revenue surged 192 percent to CNY 18.74 million (USD 2.89 billion). Revenue for cloud computing and internet infrastructure jumped 126 percent year-on-year to CNY 819 million (USD 126 million).
Revenue went 14 percent higher to CNY 632 million (USD 97 million) for the international commerce retail business and 18 percent to CNY 1.43 billion (USD 221 million) for the international commerce wholesale business.
The number of active buyers on the China retail marketplaces advanced 21 percent from Q3 to 407 million while mobile MAUs (mobile monthly active users) in December reached 393 million, up by 47 million sequentially. The recently set up joint venture Koubei generated CNY 15.8 billion (USD 2.4 billion).
