Alibaba to list in US
Chinese e-commerce company Alibaba Group has decided hold an initial public offering in the United States. The company further said that should circumstances permit in the future, Alibaba would like to extend it public status in the China capital market. Alibaba was earlier looking at listing in Hong Kong, but regulators last year rejected the plans over the company's shareholding structure. The company did not provide further details on size or timing of its planned IPO.

Alibaba studying plan to expand IPO to over USD 20 billion

Chinese e-commerce group Alibaba is studying plans to expand its IPO to over USD 20 billion, the Wall Street Journal reports. Under the plan under consideration, Alibaba would sell shares, in addition to its investors, which include Yahoo!. Another major shareholder, Softbank, is not likely to to sell shares in the deal, according to the report. The company previously said that should circumstances permit in the future, Alibaba would like to extend it public status in the China capital market.

Alibaba doubles Q4 net profit

Chinese e-commerce group Alibaba doubled its net profit in the fourth quarter of 2013, to USD 1.349 billion from USD 642 million a year earlier. The result was reported by its shareholder Yahoo!, which has a 24 percent stake in the Chinese company. Alibaba founder buys Wasu stake

The founder of Chinese e-commerce group Alibaba, Jack Ma, and partners will buy a 20 percent stake in Wasu Media Holding for CNY 6.5 billion. Major shareholders Wasu Digital TV Media Group and Alibaba have signed a strategic cooperation agreement, Xinhua reports. Wasu Media Holding will use the new funds to develop content and expand its Wasu internet TV terminals.

Chinese e-commerce group Alibaba will invest around USD 692 million Intime Retail Group, a Chinese department store. The company will pay around USD 214 million for a 9.9 percent stake in Intime and subscribe for USD 478 million worth of convertible bonds issued by Intime. Chinese e-commerce group Alibaba recorded revenues of USD 1.776 billion in the third quarter of 2013, up 51 percent from a year earlier. Yahoo! has amended its share repurchase and preference sale agreement with Alibaba, reducing the number of Alibaba shares it must sell should Alibaba stage an IPO to 208 million from 261.5 million. After any eventual IPO, Yahoo has the right to sell its remaining shares at its discretion.
