Altice completes Suddenlink takeover
Altice has completed its takeover of US cable operator Suddenlink. This follows clearance from the Federal Communications Commission, which said it had no objections to the takeover, first announced in May. Earlier this month, Altice, Suddenlink's holding company Cequel and the US Department of Justice reached a national security agreement, clearing the way for DoJ approval of the takeover. 

Altice said previously that it expected to close the takeover before year-end. The company has bought 70 percent of Suddenlink for USD 9.1 billion, marking its entry on the US market.

Altice is considering the possibility of expanding its Altice USA cable unit via an initial public offering (IPO), according to unnamed sources cited by Reuters. Suddenlink raises revenue 6.7% to USD 627.6 mln in Q1

US cable operator Suddenlink, an Altice subsidiary since December 2015, posted USD 627.6 million of revenue in the first quarter, a 6.7 percent increase on the first quarter of 2015. The increase was driven by growth in residential broadband and commercial service revenue, partly offset by lower voice revenue. The operator made a USD 28.9 million net loss in the latest quarter, versus a USD 9.4 million net profit a year earlier, as its interest expenses grew to USD 96.88 million from USD 60.91 million.

FCC approves Altice's Cablevision purchase

The FCC has approved Altice's USD 17.7 billion acquisition of US cable operator Cablevision from the Dolan family, finding that the transaction was in the public interest and noting that Altice had pledged to invest in upgrading Cablevision's broadband service. Cablevision has 3.1 million subscribers mainly in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut. Reuters reports that the transaction still requires the approval of the state of New York and New York City.

Altice raises USD 1.5 bln for Suddenlink loans

Altice said it has successfully priced USD 1.5 billion worth of 10-year senior secured notes offered to institutional investors. All proceeds will be used by unit Suddenlink to refinance the entire USD 1,481 million worth of loans units Term Loan Facility set to mature in February 2019.

US cable operator Suddenlink reported USD 618.93 million of revenue in the fourth quarter of 2015, up 4.5 percent on the fourth quarter of 2014, reflecting growth in residential broadband customers and higher commercial services revenue. US fixed triple-play operator Suddenlink made EUR 2.18 billion of revenue in 2015, compared with EUR 1.76 billion a year earlier, reports parent company Altice. Altice reported adjusted EBITDA for 2015 up 17.6 percent to EUR 6.671 billion, as the group benefited from synergies following takeovers such as SFR in France. Altice is entering the US market with an agreement to buy a controlling stake in Suddenlink, the seventh-largest cable operator in the US.
