Apple app store reaches nearly 50 billion downloads
Apple has announced that nearly 50 billion apps have been downloaded worldwide from its App Store. The company is also announcing a contest in which the person who downloads the 50 billionth app will receive a USD 10,000 App Store gift card. Consumers among those who download the first 50 apps after the 50 billionth app is downloaded will receive a USD 500 App Store gift card.

Apple ranked as top OEM in March with 39% of subscribers

During the three months ending in March, 136.7 million people in the US owned smartphones (58% market penetration), up 9 percent since December, according to comScore. Apple ranked as the top OEM with 39 percent of US smartphone subscribers (up 2.7% from December). Samsung ranked second with 21.7 percent market share (up 0.7%), followed by HTC with 9 percent, Motorola with 8.5 percent and LG with 6.8 percent.

Apple's iOS loses share on InMobi network in Australia

On the Australian handset market, Apple's iOS smartphones have continued to lose share to Android, according to a report by mobile ad network InMobi. Between January and March, Apple's smartphone share of impressions dropped 2 percent to 59 percent while Android grew 2 percent to 36 percent on the InMobi network. Apple sells USD 17 billion of bonds

Apple has sold USD 17 billion of bonds, including USD 14 billion of fixed-rate securities with maturities from 3 to 30 years and USD 3 billion of floating-rate notes, Bloomberg reports. Apple, Samsung lead Swiss tablet market - study

The latest research from Robert Weiss ('Weissbuch') shows that the Swiss PC market generated sales of CHF 2.1 billion in 2012, down 6.5 percent from 2011, inside-it.ch reports.
