Apple set to settle 4G iPad case for AUD 2.25 mln
Apple could pay AUD 2.25 million in a settlement with the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC). The Federal Court has heard that Apple agreed to settle a case brought by the ACCC that alleged the new iPad could not access local 4G networks, despite being sold as the new iPad "with WiFi + 4G". The proposed settlement would see Apple pay a penalty of AUD 2.25 million and pay AUD 300,000 towards the regulator legal costs, the Australian reports. Earlier this year, Apple already changed its marketing language and offered refunds to customers that expected the device to connect Telstra's LTE network. The settlement deal has not yet been approved by the court.
