Apple starts rolling out credit card to selected users

Apple has started rolling out its Apple Card to selected users. The credit card will be tested with a group of users before rolling out to the wider market.

After applying for the card with their Apple ID, users are subject to a credit check before the card is activated on their Apple Wallet. The annual interest rate varies from 12.99 to 23.99 percent, depending on their credit score. The card is issued by Goldman Sachs on behalf of Apple, and Goldman Sachs provides customer support for the card.

Apple first announced the card in March at its developers conference as one of several new products designed to grow its services business and offset slower iPhone sales. The Apple Card offers a range of extra features in the associated app, such as spending categorisation and management, cash-back of 1-3 percent on all purchases with the card and multiple options to calculate interest and pay off the card.
