Asus Republic of Gamers unveils new gaming products at Computex

Asus Republic of Gamers (ROG) presented at Computex 2018 a new lineup of gaming products. The highlight of the company's 'For those who dare' press event was ROG Phone, the first ROG gaming smartphone described as the world’s first smartphone with a 3D vapor-chamber cooling system. ROG also announced a line-up of  802.11ax routers, including what the company calls the world’s first tri-band 802.11ax router with Wi-Fi speeds of over 10,000Mbps,  ROG Rapture GT-AX11000. ROG also introduced products in other brand-new categories, including the ROG Ryujin and ROG Ryuo CPU coolers and ROG Thor 1200W Platinum power supply. It also unveiled the ROG Delta gaming headset and the ROG Strix SCAR II and ROG Strix Hero II gaming laptops.

ROG Phone morphs into a portable console with the Gamevice controller and the WiGig Dock — using 60GHz 802.11ad Wi-Fi. It packs dual analog joysticks, left and right fire triggers and bumpers, a D-pad, along with A,B,X,Y and L3, R3 buttons. ROG Phone's mobile desktop dock allows gamers to connect ROG Phone to an external 4K UHD monitor, mouse and keyboard. The phone can be used as an auxiliary display, hooked up to a wired gigabit LAN and drive a 5.1-channel surround-sound system via the SP/DIF output.

ROG Phone has a 6-inch AMOLED screen and is powered by thw 2.96GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 Mobile Platform with gaming-optimised Qualcomm Adreno 630 GPU. It also features up to 8GB of RAM and up to 512GB of onboard storage. ROG said it also partnered with Garena to explore the endless possibilities that ROG Phone brings to the gaming scene.

The line-up of 802.11ax routers includes AiMesh AX6100 WiFi System and RT-AX88U on top of ROG Rapture GT-AX11000. The Asus ROG Phone and the 802.11ax routers will be available in Q3.

The ROG Strix (GL504) Hero II and SCAR II, all-new versions of the successful e-sports gaming laptops built exclusively for multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) or first-person shooter (FPS) titles. ROG Strix (GL504) Hero II is priced starting at USD 1,699 MSRP and is available at Asus, Amazon, B&H, and Newegg.

The SCAR II is available for USD 1,999, and can be purchased at Asus, Amazon, B&H, and Newegg. In addition to the products announced onstage, the 'For those who dare' press event also featured a demo area showcasing other new products, including ROG Balteus Qi, a RGB gaming mouse pad; ROG Gladius II Wireless, an ergonomic optical gaming mouse, as well as and ROG Strix Chassis with an enticing aluminum and smoked-glass design and support for addressable Aura Sync lighting technology.
