AT&T said its 5G network was expanded to 28 additional markets across the country and covers more than 160 million people. The network now covers 28 new localities from Arkansas, Florida, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Michigan, Missouri, Minnesota, North Dakota/Minnesota, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Puerto Rico, Tennessee, Texas, and Utah.
With the expansion, AT&T offers access to 5G for consumers and businesses in a total of 355 markets in the US.
In parts of some markets, AT&T enabled dynamic spectrum sharing (DSS) technology, which allows carriers to share the same channel between both 4G and 5G users simultaneously, based on demand. Through DSS, AT&T said it can deploy 5G faster and more efficiently to help more customers take advantage of 5G technology, sooner.
