
US operators Comcast and AT&T have announced plans to pay their staff bonuses of USD 1,000 each. This follows the passage of a tax reform bill in the US that is expected to sharply reduce corporate tax rates.
Comcast said it would award special USD 1,000 bonuses to more than 100,000 eligible frontline and non-executive employees. In addition, the company said it expects to spend "well in excess" of USD 50 billion over the next five years investing in infrastructure, for both its cable and broadband operations.
AT&T reiterated is intention to invest an additional USD 1 billion in the US thanks to the tax reform. In addition, it will pay a special USD 1,000 bonus to more than 200,000 US employees. If the US President signs the tax reform bill in to law before Christmas, employees will receive the bonus over the holidays.
