AT&T introduces new Sponsored Data service
AT&T has introduced a new "Sponsored Data" service to provide new data use options for wireless customers and mobile broadband channels for sponsors. With the new Sponsored Data service, eligible use data charges will be billed directly to the sponsoring company. Customers will see the service offered as AT&T Sponsored Data and the usage will appear on their monthly invoice as Sponsored Data. Sponsored Data will be offered at the same speed and performance as any non-Sponsored Data content and allows sponsors to better engage with customers and employees.

The new service offers allows sponsors to: encourage customers to try a new device, promote movie trailers and games, provide patient healthcare support via wellness videos, encourage customers to browse mobile shopping sites, allow businesses with "Bring Your Own Device" policies to pay for the data employees use and enhance customer loyalty programmes by providing sponsored data access to products and services.

Content providers and other businesses can use the network service with existing mobile websites and applications and the service will be available across multiple mobile devices and operating systems. In addition, the developer portal website includes features that allow sponsors to manage their offers, check billing and measure impact of offers using an analytics engine.
