Telecoms minister Alexander de Croo said the government asked BIPT to look at granting temporary licences to businesses or researchers in order to experiment with 5G. He expects the licences to come with conditions that the holders involve Belgian researchers or start-ups in the tests, in order to support the technological development as well as help develop the new economic models needed for 5G.
Belgian regulator to offer 5G test licences
Belgian regulator BIPT has started looking at frequencies available to test 5G technology, L'Echo reports. The regulator is working with Ericsson to identify the most suitable bands for tests.
