BIPT confirms fine against Telenet/Voo on 3G delay
Belgian regulator BIPT has issued a fine to Telenet Tecteo BidCo for failure to meet the obligations of its 3G licence. Telenet Tecteo Bidco is a joint venture set up by the cable operators Telenet (74.99%) and Voo (25.01%) to acquire the spectrum rights. BIPT found that as of the 15 January deadline the company had not yet rolled out commercial services as required under its licence. The regulator issued the maximum fine possible for a company with no revenues, EUR 5,000.

BidCo will have six months to end the violation of its licence terms. If it does not rectify the situation by then, BIPT can double the fine or limit or withdraw the licence. BIPT hadearlier decided to sanction the company, but BidCo appealed the decision. The regulator has now rejected the appeal and confirmed the decision.
