BlackBerry adds timed, retracted messages to BBM
BlackBerry has released a preview of two new premium functions coming to Blackberry Messenger in its next release. These are a timer, to control how long messages and pictures shared with contacts can be viewed within BBM, and the ability to retract a sent message. 

The timer function works through an icon next to the text bar. Senders are also notified if the recipient takes a screen shot of a timed message. The retraction feature works only with message to start, not pictures, and is only available in one-to-one chats. 

The new features are currently in testing in a limited beta for users on Android and BlackBerry 10. Timer and Retract will be available in the 2.5 release of BBM for iPhone, Android and BlackBerry 10, "coming very, very soon", BlackBery said.

Blackberry adds custom PINs, Android Wear support to BBM

Blackberry has announced a series of updates to its cross-platform messaging app BBM at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. Users can now pay a monthly fee of USD 0.99 to remove ads from the app and receive a custom PIN for an additional USD 1.99 per month. The custom PINs must be 6-8 characters long and can only include numbers and letters. BlackBerry launches BBM for Windows Phone

BlackBerry announced the official launch of its BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) app for Windows Phone. The beta version was released a few weeks ago and all 10,000 test versions offered were taken up within 24 hours, the company said. The app was launched earlier for Android and iOS devices. Additional features will be added to the Windows app in the coming months, such as BBM Voice, Channels and location sharing.
