Blackberry extends development programme deadline

RIM has extended the deadline for submissions of apps for its ‘Built for BlackBerry’ development programme due to a high level of response and developers’ questions and concerns about the previous deadline. The company said that over 19,000 apps were submitted to BlackBerry World over the weekend of 19-20 January.

BlackBerry 10 apps that have been submitted before 20:00 EST on 21 January may qualify for the USD 10,000 Developer Commitment if the developer agrees to the terms and conditions and passes Built for BlackBerry testing. Developers may apply for Built for BlackBerry review and the USD 10,000 Developer Commitment offer in the BlackBerry World Vendor Portal by 20:00 ET on 18 February. The qualifying sale dates for for the USD 10,000 Commitment are 4 March 2013 to 3 March 2014.

RIM collects 15,000 new BlackBerry apps in a weekend

Research In Motion received around 15,000 applications for BlackBerry 10 in the past weekend. They are currently awaiting approval for publication on the BlackBerry App World.
