
BlackBerry will end support for classic mobile devices running BlackBerry OS 7.1 or earlier, as well as OS 10, from 4 January. Users will no longer be able to access capabilities such as phone calls, texting, data or emergency 911 access. Users will likely also have issues with Wi-Fi and apps such as BlackBerry World and Desktop manager. The company will also stop support for its PlayBook tablet on 4 January.
BlackBerry shut down its app store and its Messenger (BBM) service in 2019. The company still operates QNX, an operating system that powers infotainment systems from Toyota, Audi, Honda and other car makers.
