Bouygues launches VoLTE pilot service
French operator Bouygues Telecom has announced the launch a VoLTE pilot service with 5,000 customers, including 700 enterprise clients. Participants are owners of VoLTE-enabled Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge smartphones. The VoLTE service will be made available to all customers with compatible phones in 2016. The operators said that VoLTE allows customers to make calls over the 4G network, offering optimised voice quality and allowing customers to send, share and download content during the call. 

In May 2014, Bouygues awarded a contract to Ericsson to upgrade its network for VoLTE. The company is the first in France to offer the 4G voice services.

Orange France to launch VoLTE by end of January - report

Orange France is expected to launch VoLTE by the end of January, reports iGeneration without citing its sources. The online publication refers to a September 2015 tweet by group chairman and CEO Stephane Richard in a live question and answer session. Asked when VoLTE and Wi-Fi calling would be introduced, he replied, "VoLTE will enable a near instantaneous call setup. It is coming very soon!" Orange is expected to roll out the service progressively and to focus on iPhone users initially.

Bouygues doet proef met VoLTE

Bouygues Telecom heeft aangekondigd een proef te starten waarbij 5.000 klanten, waaronder 700 zakelijke klanten, gebruik gaan maken van VoLTE. De deelnemers zijn allen in het bezit van een Samsung Galaxy S6 (Edge) en het is de bedoeling dat de dienst volgend jaar voor alle smartphones beschikbaar komt. In mei vorig jaar gaf Bouygues Telecom Ericsson de opdracht het netwerk van de Franse provider geschikt te maken voor VoLTE. Bouygues Telecom is de eerste provider in Frankrijk die VoLTE aanbiedt.
