BSNL starts USD 1 billion mobile tender - report
Indian state-owned operator Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) has invited bids from equipment makers to add capacity for 31 million new users on its 3G/4G network across the country. According to the tender document seen by the Financial Express, the company will accept bids for new equipment until 01 July. The company did not mention the value of the contract, but industry sources said the purchase is estimated to be worth more than USD 1 billion. 

The new tender comes at a time when BSNL is focused on expansion and aims to turn profitable by 2020. The new equipment is needed to add customers and scale.
