China Telecom grows 2011 profit 11%
China Telecom posted a profit for full year 2011 of CNY 16.40 billion, up 10.5 percent from CNY 14.85 billion in 2010. Basic earnings per share were CNY 0.20 versus CNY 0.18 a year earlier. Revenues, excluding the amortisation of upfront connection fees, were CNY 244.94 billion, up 11.7 percent from CNY 219.37 billion. Mobile service revenues grew 43 percent to CNY 68.25 billion, representing 27.9 percent of the total, and fixed-line broadband revenues rose 12.3 percent to CNY 60.80 million. China Telecom recorded an EBITDA of 94.27 billion, up 6.5 percent and EBITDA margin stood at 40.8 percent. The company ended the year with 126.47 million mobile customers, up 39.7 percent year-on-year, which includes 36.29 million 3G subscribers. The fixed-line broadband base went up 21 percent to 76.81 million but the number of access lines in service slipped 3.1 percent to 169.59 million. The company's board of directors is recommending a dividend of HKD 0.085 per share, the same as last year.
