Cisco announced an agreement to acquire July Systems for an undisclosed amount in order to strengthen its offering for enterprise Wi-Fi networks. Based in California and with offices in Bangalore, July Systems offers software to help manage indoor wireless networks and their users.
July Systems' cloud-based platform comes with features such as 'instant' customer activation, data-driven behavioral insights, contextual rules engine and APIs. It's available worldwide with a service level agreement.
The company already works with Cisco for several years, as an OEM for Cisco Connected Mobile Experience (CMX), and Cisco offers similar capabilities for its Meraki customers as well. The company plans to add July Systems’ platform and business context capabilities to help partners and customers build and deliver a range of indoor location services for industry verticals such as healthcare, government, logistics, manufacturing, sports arenas, hotels, education and retail.
The July Systems team will join Cisco’s Enterprise Networking Group led by Scott Harrell, senior vice president and general manager. The acquisition is expected to close in Cisco's fiscal first quarter to October.
Started in 2001, July Systems' previous investors included Intel Capital, Update Partners, Footprint Ventures and Westbridge Capital.
