Comcast Business brings Docsis 3.1 to Atlanta, Chicago
Comcast Business expanded its Docsis 3.1-based internet service for business customers to Atlanta, Chicago, Detroit and Nashville service areas. 'Business Internet 1 Gig' and 'Business Internet 500' speed tiers are now available to thousands of business customers in these Comcast service areas. These will also be expanded to the majority of the operator's service areas throughout 2017 and into 2018.

Besides the new tiers of service, Comcast Business customers have access to existing gigabit and multi-gigabit options, including Comcast Business Ethernet, which the company launched and has been expanding nationally since 2011. Those services can support speeds of 100 Gbps over fibre.

Teleste unveils proof of concept for last mile broadband

Teleste announced a proof of concept (PoC) created with Slovenia-based company Iskratel for last mile broadband. It aims to bring to market a new product for the delivery of internet-based broadband services that combines Iskratel's GPON technology with Teleste's Docsis-based mini-CMTS, called the DAH (Docsis Access Hub). The platform enables operators to use the existing last mile coax cabling as an extension of their fibre networks.

Comcast announced an increase in shareholder returns after reporting its best cable TV results in ten years.
