The Withings brand has opened a new chapter by launching its first smartwatch model, the Steel HR Sport, since Withings’ co-founder Eric Carreel took control of the company from Nokia. The connected-health specialist changed hands in 2016, becoming part of Nokia Technologies. Two years on, it was acquired by Carreel in May for an undisclosed sum, and the company is now announcing its first product launch five months after the sale of the business.
The Steel HR Sport is available for USD 199.95 on the Withings website and via selected retailers, including Amazon. The smartwatch offers heart rate monitoring, connected GPS tracking and fitness analytics data, counting among its main selling points a 25-day battery life that can be extended for a further 20 days in a power reserve mode. It works in conjunction with the free Health Mate app, which supports a range of third party services, such as Apple Health and Google Fit.
