Deezer claims over 4 million paying customers
French music streaming company has over 4 million paying subscribers and 10 million monthly active users, CEO Axel Dauchez told attendees of the Music Matters Asia conference. Evolver.fm reports that he informed the audience that the company has 10 million monthly active users and 25 million tracks. This gives Deezer a higher conversion ratio from free to paying than its larger rival Spotify, which has 6 million pay subscribers out of 24 million monthly active users.

Former Deezer CEO Dauchez to lead Publicis France

French streaming music portal Deezer's former CEO, Axel Dauchez, has been appointed CEO of Publicis France, effective as of September. He will report to Publicis Worldwide CEO Arthur Sadoun. Deezer offers 30 mln tracks, doubles subscribers in a year

Orange-backed music streaming service Deezer announced at a press event in London that it now has 5 million paying users around the world (compared to 2 million in October 2012) and that over half of them live outside its home market. Streaming music service Spotify more than doubled revenues in 2012 to EUR 435 million as it expanded to new markets and almost doubled its users, according to an annual filing in Luxembourg where the company is registered. The company's net loss widened to EUR 58.7 million from EUR 45.4 million in 2011, Reuters reported. Orange-backed streaming music service Deezer has doubled free listening time for users in France to 10 hours a month, to mark this year's "Festival de la Musique". The move aligns Deezer's free offer with Spotify's. Music streaming service Deezer has launched an app for Windows 8, featuring a touch-enabled interface and allowing users to customise their home page around their favourite artists and tracks. Deezer has added a fixed mini player with music controls and a predictive search function.
