Deutsche Telekom launches VoLTE

Deutsche Telekom has launched Voice-over-LTE (VoLTE) for customers with a contract and a VoLTE-ready smartphone. The provider will not charge extra for the use of VoLTE. The service is available for calls to mobile as well as fixed networks.

The following smartphones offered by DT currently are compatible with the new service: the Samsung Galaxy S5, S6 and S6 Edge; the Microsoft Lumia 950 and 950 XL; and the Sony Xperia Z3, Z3 Compact, Z5, Z5 Compact and the Z5 Premium.

Deutsche Telekom is the last of the three major operators in Germany to launch VoLTE. O2 and Vodafone started the service last year.

WiFi Calling available to all Vodafone Germany customers

Vodafone Germany has opened its WiFi Calling to all customers. Those who are not subscribed to a GigaKombi tariff pay EUR 2.99 during a minimum contract term of 24 months, telraif.de reports. The service is only available within Germany with the Samsung smartphones Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge, Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 Edge and Galaxy A5 as well as with the LG G5. The Samsung Galaxy A3 and the Vodafone Smart Platinum 7 are due to follow soon.

DeTe introduces WLAN Call

Deutsche Telekom announced that its mobile customers can make calls on their smartphones via any WLAN network in Germany or abroad, and can also receive calls on the go via WLAN. Calls and text messages worldwide cost customers the same as calls and texts from Germany. WLAN Call is an add-on with no monthly charge and requires a compatible handset.

Deutsche Telekom adds iPhone with iOS 9.3 to VoLTE

Deutsche Telekom is now offering VoLTE technology for iPhone users with the operating system iOS 9.3 and the free tariff option "Voice over LTE", heise.de reports. The Apple smartphone has been added two months after the telco had launched the improved voice service. VoLTE requires at least an iPhone 6 or a later version.

Deutsche Telekom announced Immmr, a service for mobile numbers as an independent, open communications service for voice, messaging and video telephony that will launch in the second half of this year. Deutsche Telekom offers Microsoft Lumia 950 for EUR 1

Deutsche Telekom is offering the Microsoft Lumia 950 for EUR 1 instead of EUR 59.95 in combination with the Magenta Mobil S tariff, tariftipp.de reports. The plan itself costs EUR 44.95 per month during the first twelve months of the 2-year contract, then EUR 49.95. It includes unlimited calls and SMS as well as 500 MB at up to 150 Mbps. The offer is available until 14 February.

Deutsche Telekom used hundreds of bogus self-employed people in its business segments T-Systems and T-Online for several years and had to pay more than EUR 35 million to state social security providers in 2014 and 2015, Wiwo.de reports. Deutsche Telekom confirmed the information, it said.

Deutsche Telekom has launched the 'HotSpot Plug 'n' Play' package for small and medium businesses, such as cafes and bookstores, to provide customers with free Wi-Fi. VoLTE becomes available on iPhone 6 and Plus with O2 Germany

O2 Germany's customers are now able to use VoLTE on the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus devices with the launch of the iOS 9 21.1 version, teltarif.de reports. In the phone settings, users can now select 'activate LTE', and choose whether they want to use 4G for voice and data or only for mobile internet. Until now, only Vodafone Germany customers were able to use VoLTE on the iPhone 6 devices. O2 customers with a Multicard still cannot use the improved voice service.

Vodafone Germany says Samsung S6 Edge+ uses VoLTE

Vodafone Germany announced that it has added the Samsung S6 Edge + to the list of smartphones that can use its VoLTE technology. Vodafone expects to start selling the S6 Edge+ on 04 September. The device, which has a 5.7-inch screen, will be offered from EUR 259.90 to customers with a Red contract. Without a contract, Vodafone will sell the S6 Edge+ for EUR 799.90. Customers who order the phone in advance get a free wireless charger.

In order to use the improved voice service, customers have to install the Android update 5.1.1. The smartphone follows the Samsung Galaxy S5, S6 and S6 edge, the Apple iPhone 6 and 6 plus, the Microsoft Lumia 640, the LG G4, the Sony Xperia Z3 and the Z3 Compact, which have already made the necessary update for the switch to VoLTE.
