Deutsche Telekom Q2 revenues, EBITDA up 7%, led by growth in US

Deutsche Telekom reported second-quarter results up in line with its full-year outlook, again driven by the strong performance at T-Mobile US. Revenues rose 7.1 percent to EUR 19.66 billion, and adjusted EBITDA was up 7.1 percent as well after adjusting for leases, to EUR 6.28 billion.

The company's net profit jumped to EUR 944 million from EUR 495 million a year ago when it booked a charge for its toll system in Germany. Free cash flow adjusted for leasing increased 5.4 percent to EUR 1.55 billion, after a 10 percent increase in capex excluding spectrum to EUR 3.32 billion.

The growth was helped by the acquisitions of Tele2 in the Netherlands UPC in Austria, as well as the stronger dollar. Excluding the changes in scope and currency effects, Telekom said revenues rose 3.2 percent on an organic basis over the first six months of the year. EBITDA was up 3.7 percent, and free cash flow rose 9.0 percent in the six months, after adjusting for the new lease accounting.

Revenue growth was strongest at T-Mobile US, up 11.4 percent in Q2, or 5.1 percent higher in dollars. Revenues increased 1.2 percent at the German operations and rose by 2.8 percent in the rest of Europe.
