American Tower has agreed to lease space on up to 20,000 of its communications sites to Dish Network, which will use the sites to help deploy its nationwide 5G network.
Under the deal, Dish will start cash lease payments to American Tower next year; the amounts will grow over time as Dish’s network rollout progresses. Dish will also have the option to lease shared generators from American Tower on select sites and to use the company’s zoning, permitting and other pre-construction services.
