The Walt Disney Company plans to launch its video streaming service Disney+ in South Africa next summer, in June 2022, Media24 reported. Disney pushed back the launch to enable a broader introduction next summer, in also parts of the Middle East, as well as in South Africa. The rest of the African continent seems to be excluded from this broader launch, at least for now.
Viewers of the over-the-top service will be able to watch series such as Star Wars: The Mandalorian, Loki and other Marvel Cinematic Universe shows, as well as new movie releases such as Black Widow and Jungle Cruise.
Disney+ reached 116 million subscribers worldwide in July, after launching the service less than two years back. The company is preparing to launch the streaming service to more markets around the world in the next year, including also Asia and Latin America.
