Nokia Networks has partnered with Japanese operator NTT Docomo to explore the potential of Nokia Networks' 5G radio technology in the 4.4-4.9 GHz band. In the joint research project, both companies are working towards achieving throughput speeds of 10 Gbps and optimized latency using frequencies below 6 GHz. The trials also seek to demonstrate Licensed Assisted Access (LAA) with 5G to utilize unlicensed spectrum as well as interworking with LTE through Dual Connectivity (DC).
