Dropbox strikes partnership deal with SoftBank in Japan

Online file storage service Dropbox has signed a partnership agreement with Japanese ICT distributor SoftBank Commerce and Service (SoftBank C&S), TechInAsia reports, citing Dropbox CEO Drew Houston. The announcement was made at the New Economy Summit in Tokyo. According to Houston, the partnership with SoftBank C&S will bring Dropbox for Business to around 1 million Japanese users over the next five years. SoftBank C&S will also become the main reseller and distributor for Dropbox for Business in the Japanese market.

Dropbox will also cooperate with 13 Japanese service providers, namely I-O Data Device, i3 Systems, Alps System Integration, Inventit, Intercom, International Systems Research, WingArc1st, a2media, and Recomot. Each will integrate with Dropbox for Business’ API to extend the functionality of the core service.
