Russia's Digital Sky Technologies has agreed to buy AOL's ICQ instant messaging service for USD 187.5 million. Available in 16 languages, ICQ had more than 32 million unique visitors in February this year, according to ComScore data. The service is particularly popular in Russia, where it's the leading IM service, and in other European markets such as Germany and the Czech Republic. DST is already an investor or owner of major Russian portals and social networking services, such as Mail.ru and Vkontakte.ru. It has also invested in foreign internet services, such as China's Tencent and Facebook.
