DT expands smart home platform to Norway, Slovakia
Deutsche Telekom announced the expansion of its smart-home platform to two new countries: Slovakia and Norway. Known as Qivicon in its own market, the white-label smart home offering is available in Slovakia by DT's local subsidiary Slovak Telekom since earlier this month and will launch in Norway with Nettalliansen, a group of regional utility companies. This follows similar agreements with Austria’s Eww and Dutch operator KPN.

Nettalliansen is a group of 47 businesses offering broadband, energy and energy grid services. They will use the platform to offer assisted living services for seniors and professional health services under the brand name Hitch. Furthermore, smart home functionalities for managing energy consumption will be available.

DT also announced that Centralite and Sengled are the latest partners delivering compatible products for the smart home platform. Sengled will make its lighting products compatible with Qivicon, and Centralite will offer items such as smart plugs, motion sensors, door and window contacts and water detectors in the Slovak market. In total over 200 products are already compatible with Qivicon.

In addition, DT said it obtained the ISO 9001 quality standard for Qivicon and new security ratings.  For the third time on behalf of Deutsche Telekom, the German testing institute AV-Test looked at the Qivicon platform and the Magenta SmartHome app. The result was "Excellent protection", according to AV-Test, which said the smart home platform prevents external manipulation and ensures secure communication.
