DT launches Cloud VPN in central Europe

Deutsche Telekom has launched a new service for SMEs called Cloud VPN in Croatia, Hungary and Slovakia. Cloud VPN is the first DT commercial service created for the centralized pan-European IP network, where network functions are virtualised in data centres. Cloud VPN combines secure communication and additional protective functions in the cloud, with a high degree of automation in service provisioning and self-service management. With this service, customers can securely access all important company data from anywhere – whether in branch offices or at remote locations.

The Cloud VPN service uses a self-service online portal to give customers a simple way to select, subscribe to, and activate services. The service portfolio includes various password-protected VPNs: branch, site-to-site, and remote access, as well as a firewall and web security. The service is offered as a cloud-managed IT solution on a monthly subscription basis. Service provisioning is automatic and done in real-time from the local data centres. The Cloud VPN solution has been developed on Cisco's virtual security devices, in combination with DT's OpenStack solutions.
