The Dutch mobile operators Vodafone, KPN, T-Mobile and Tele2 will activate mobile coverage 21 July in the new north-south metro line in Amsterdam. The operators installed 194 antennas and 11.5 km of cabling to ensure a signal throughout the line, which traverses under the centre of the city and the IJ waterway in the north of Amsterdam. The network provides 2G, 3G and 4G services and is expected to serve around 120,000 travelers per day.
Vodafone led the design and construction of the infrastructure, as it also did earlier for covering a new road tunnel near Maastricht. The company said the project underlines how operators work well together to provide full coverage for customers.
