Dutch multiplay revenues grow to almost EUR 1 billion in Q3
Revenue generated by Dutch telecom operators from multiplay subscriptions grew to EUR 993 million in the third quarter of 2015, up by 7.4 percent compared with the same quarter in 2014. The revenue growth was driven by an increase in the number of broadband households signing up for multiplay services. The number of households with quad-play subscriptions, including both fixed and mobile services, grew to more than 600,000 at the end of quarter, according to Telecompaper's Dutch Consumer Multiplay Market 2015 Q3 report.

Almost 9 percent of all broadband subscriptions were part of quad-play plans at the end of Q3 2015, up from 5.5 percent a year earlier. The greater number of quad-play subscribers is also leading to an increase in associated revenues. The 4P revenues increased to almost 14 percent of all multiplay revenues in the market, from slightly more than 8 percent a year ago.

While quad-play is growing, the majority of households are still on triple-play subscriptions. Almost 4 million households in the Netherlands combine three services (fixed or mobile) at one provider. Ziggo accounts for almost 61 percent of all triple-play subscribers, and KPN has around 29 percent. The remaining 10 percent is divided among Caiw, M7, Tele2, Delta and Vodafone.

The report also shows that the share of households with dual-play plans is slowly decreasing, after peaking in the the fourth quarter of 2014. The combination broadband and fixed telephony is becoming less common, in favour of more subscriptions combining broadband and TV or mobile telephony.
