E-Plus continues current strategy until 2015 - CEO

E-Plus CEO Thorsten Dirks has presented his vision on the market and strategy of E-Plus until 2015, as part of KPN's new strategic plan 'Strengthen - Simplify - Grow'. He said that E-Plus will continue with its current strategy focussing on mass market, low-cost model, multi-brands, wholesale and being innovative. With regards to the German mobile market, he said that substitution of voice and SMS by apps is no issue yet, but is expected to become a force from 2012. The total service revenue is expected to stay stable, but the mobile data revenues are expected to grow from EUR 3.5 billion now to EUR 6.5 billion in 2015. E-Plus currently has a market share of 18 percent of the voice and SMS revenues and 5 percent of the mobile data revenues, which should grow to more than 20 percent in 2015. As announced earlier, E-Plus continues to upgrade its network, partnering with ZTE, Nokia Siemens Networks, Ericsson and Alcatel-Lucent. The planning is to have 21 Mbps coverage for 75 percent of the German population by the end of this year and 42 Mbps coverage for 80 percent of the population by the end of 2012.
