
Ellison steps down as CEO, becomes chairman of Oracle

Oracle said it has appointed founder and CEO Larry Ellison its new executive chairman and CTO. Jeff Henley, who has served as Oracle's chairman for the last ten years, was appointed Oracle's vice chairman of the board. Oracle also promoted both Safra Catz and Mark Hurd to the position of CEO, succeeding Ellison. All manufacturing, finance, and legal functions will continue to report to Catz while all sales, service and vertical industry global business units will continue to report to Hurd. All software and hardware engineering functions will continue to report to Ellison.
