Equinix expands to India with takeover of 2 data centres in Mumbai

Equinix announced its expansion into India through the acquisition of the India operations of GPX Global Systems. The takeover gives the company two data centres in the Mumbai area, for a cash purchase price of USD 161 million.

The price represents a multiple of approximately 15x the projected EBITDA at full utilization. The acquisition is expected to close in Q1 2021, subject to customary closing conditions including regulatory approval.

Equinix customers will have access to a data centre campus with more than 200 companies, including the world's leading cloud service providers and networks and four IXPs, the company said. The sites offer a total 1,350 cabinets, with room for another 500 at full capacity. In total, the deal adds 90,000 square feet of colocation space to Equinix's footprint.
