Ericsson, Huawei and NSN are top LTE equipment manufacturers
The industry is in the midst of a second wave of LTE rollouts, with 248 commercial LTE networks in 87 countries expected by year-end. LTE-advanced is gearing up for 4G prime time, with the first commercial deployment launched in June this yera by SK Telecom, according to a report from Infonetics Research. Heterogeneous services including macrocells, microcells, picocells and metrocells are gaining momentum for both 3G and LTE networks. Operator respondents rate Ericsson, Huawei and NSN as the top LTE equipment manufacturers, with Alcatel-Lucent close behind.

Ericsson reported third-quarter sales down 3 percent to SEK 53.0 billion, hurt by currency effects and a slowdown in major projects. Comparable sales excluding forex rose 3 percent from a year earlier.
