EU confirms fresh cut in roaming tariffs from July
The European Commission has confirmed the next cut in roaming prices from 1 July, as well as the extension of the roaming regulations to Croatia, which becomes an EU member from the same date. 

The new retail price caps are EUR 0.24 a minute to make a call, EUR 0.07 per minute to receive a call, EUR 0.08 per SMS and EUR 0.45 per MB of data (billed per KB). These represent reductions of respectively 17, 12.5, 11 and 36 percent compared to the current rates, last reduced in July 2012. 

Wholesale rates will drop to EUR 0.10 from EUR 0.14 per minute for voice, from EUR 0.25 to EUR 0.15 per MB for data and from EUR 0.03 to EUR 0.02 per SMS. 

Operators are free to offer cheaper rates, and many have introduced special daily, weekly or monthly bundles for customers. The next reduction in rates is scheduled for July 2014.

Kroes abandons cuts in roaming rates - report

EU telecoms chief Neelie Kroes has scrapped a draft proposal to cut wholesale roaming fees by as much as 90 percent, a European Commission document seen by Reuters showed. Croatian regulator monitors operators on roaming

Croatia's Agency for Post and Electronic Communications (Hakom) has started monitoring mobile operators to ensure the implementation of the new regulations on roaming. According to the regulatory body, operators who do not follow the regulations face potential fines in the range HRK 100.000 to HRK 1 million. Is mobile telephony still expensive? Competition, MVNOs (similar to a type of collective purchasing) and regulation are pushing prices lower, including international rates. Bouygues sets data roaming at a third of Eurotariff

French operator Bouygues Telecom's low-cost mobile brand, B&You, is charging data roaming at EUR 0.18 per MB, only a third the price of the EUR 0.54 ceiling in the new EU Eurotariff that comes into effect on 1 July. Free Mobile cuts roaming prices in 200 countries

French operator Free Mobile has accompanied the introduction of a lower mobile roaming Eurotariff on 1 July by reducing its roaming prices in 200 countries for voice, SMS/MMS and data. Telia Sweden announces new EU roaming prices from 01 July

Telia Sweden said it is cutting its prices for roaming within the EU for both retail and corporate customers from 01 July. The cost of ringing home to Sweden from another EU country will fall by 22 percent from SEK 3.20 to SEK 2.49 per minute for retail customers. Norwegian PT publishes new EEA roaming price limits

Norwegian postal and telecoms regulator PT has published the maximum roaming prices applicable in the EEA from 01 July, when unified prices come into force. PT said voice calls made from EEA countries to Norwegian numbers or to other EEA lines will cost no more than NOK 2.25 per minute , and incoming calls will be charged at a maximum of NOK 0.65 per minute.
