Facebook continues to lose market share among German teens - survey

The share of teenagers using Facebook in Germany has dropped to 36 percent, according to the Social Media Atlas 2020 by consultancy firm Faktenkontor. In 2014, 92 percent of people aged between 16 and 19 years old used Facebook. 

The social media network has lost market share also among other age groups. Only among people aged 40-49 is use stable, at 64 percent., according to the study. Users who check Facebook on a daily basis are now a minority. Among teenagers, Facebook falls behind the video app TikTok. 

The Social Media Atlas study is based on a survey carried out among 3,500 internet users aged 16 and over from December 2019 to January 2020.
