Facebook promotes Schroepfer to CTO

Facebook has promoted vice president of engineering Mike Schroepfer to CTO, a company spokesman confirmed to Bloomberg. He succeeds Bret Taylor, who resigned following the company's IPO in May 2012. Schroepfer's promotion helps fill Facebook's executive positions as the company tries to ramp up sales amid investor pressure to generate more income from its users. Facebook said Schroepfer's new designation reflects "the unique and important role he plays across the company". Before joining Facebook, he was vice president of Mozilla and worked at Sun Microsystems.
