Former Bank of Italy director Rossi tipped as new TIM chairman - report
Former Bank of Italy director general Salvatore Rossi is the frontrunner to take over as chairman of Telecom Italia (TIM), according to an unnamed source cited by Reuters. The company’s board is scheduled to meet on 21 October to approve the appointment of a successor to Fulvio Conti, who resigned last month to ease tensions among the operator’s shareholders.

Talks remain ongoing among TIM’s top shareholders and no final decision has yet been taken but Rossi remains ahead of former Italian antitrust head Antonio Catricala in the race, said the source. TIM’s chief executive Luigi Gubitosi has also approached CDP chairman Massimo Tononi about taking on the role, according to an earlier report.
