Cybersecurity provider Fortinet and Interpol have signed an agreement to proactively combat cybercrime and threats to privacy worldwide through the sharing of threat information. Fortinet will share the data generated by its global threat research team and will be involved in operational briefings at Interpol and vice versa. In addition, a threat intelligence expert from Fortinet will be assigned to collaborate with experts at the Interpol Global Complex for Innovation with a view to provide a clearer understanding of the current threat landscape and helping law enforcement officers use the information to prevent risks to security and privacy.
While the agreement formalises the cooperation between Fortinet and Interpol, both organisations have been operationally collaborating for over two years. Fortinet has been an active member of Interpol’s expert working group, providing cyber threat intelligence which has helped discover and identify multiple cybercrime operations, said the company.
