Fujitsu, Ericsson join forces on 5G
Fujitsu and Ericsson entered into an agreement to provide 5G network products and related services under a strategic partnership. The two companies will leverage their combined portfolios, spanning radio access and core network, for the dynamic 5G market in Japan, connecting communications service providers to the global 5G ecosystem.

The two companies aim to initially provide systems and products for the Japanese market, and seek to further expand their collaboration to other customers globally. Ericsson and Fujitsu will use their research and development to ensure the best path for bringing global 5G products to Japan, as well as exploring a wider global market.

Fujitsu Laboratories created what it calls the world's first equipment technology to enable simultaneous communications to four users with a single antenna panel in the 28-GHz band in the world's most compact structure. The equipment provides high-speed communications in excess of 10 Gbps, as required by 5G mobile communication formats.

Ericsson contracts Wistron to build 5G mobile hotspot for network testing

Ericsson announced it's working with the Taiwanese manufacturer Wistron to develop a 5G mobile hotspot device. The company contracted Wistron to build a device it can use in testing new 5G networks with customers. Trials are expected to start this month.

The company has streamlined its management structure, in line with its growth strategy and goals to becoming a more flexible company oriented on services. Fujitsu revenues, profit fall, hit hard by restructuring charges

Fujitsu revenues and profit fell in the second quarter, as expected, on the back of restructuring charges following the sale of most of its PC operations to Lenovo in May. Revenues for the quarter declined 3.4 percent from the year before to JPY 966.8 billion, though they were higher than the 867.6 billion recorded in the first quarter.
