Google launches Android Market website

Google has launched a web version of the Android Market. Previously users could only access the market from their phone, but now they can check out apps on the market from their web browser and send them wirelessly to their phone. The browser version also allows app-sharing over Twitter and the ability to post and read app reviews. Customs can also access their market account from the website and manage the apps they have downloaded. Additional new features of the market include the ability to sell apps in a bigger number of currencies and the start of in-app billing. The Android Market website was unveiled during an event at Google headquarters where the company showcased Honeycomb (Android 3.0), the latest Android release built for tablets. Google also showed pre-release applications optimized for Honeycomb, from over 17 developers. Over 50 developers will be showing apps at the Android booth at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.
