Google reports USD 14.10 bln consolidated revenues for Q312

Google has reported consolidated revenues of USD 14.10 billion for the quarter ended 30 September, a 45 percent increase from the third-quarter 2011. GAAP operating income for the third-quarter 2012 was USD 2.74 billion, or 19 percent of revenues compared with USD 3.06 billion last year. GAAP net income was USD 2.18 billion, compared with USD 2.73 billion year-over-year. GAAP EPS was USD 6.53 compared with USD 8.33 in the third quarter 2011.

Google has reported consolidated revenues of USD 14.10 billion for the quarter ended 30 September, a 45 percent increase from the third-quarter 2011. Google reports revenues, consistent with GAAP, on a gross basis without deducting traffic acquisition costs (TAC). In the third quarter 2012, TAC totalled USD 2.77 billion, or 26 percent of advertising revenues.

GAAP operating income for the third-quarter 2012 was USD 2.74 billion, or 19 percent of revenues compared with USD 3.06 billion or 31 percent of revenues year-over-year. Non-GAAP operating income was USD 3.80 billion or 27 percent of revenues for the third-quarter 2012 compared with USD 3.63 billion or 37 percent of revenues in the same quarter last year.

GAAP net income was USD 2.18 billion, compared with USD 2.73 billion year-over-year and non-GAAP net income was USD 3.01 billion compared with USD 3.18 billion the previous year. GAAP EPS was USD 6.53 on 333 million diluted shares outstanding for the third-quarter 2012, compared with USD 8.33 in the third quarter 2011 on 327 million diluted shares outstanding.

Google revenues were USD 11.3 billion, 82 percent of consolidated revenues in the third-quarter 2012, a 9 percent increase over third-quarter 2011 revenues of USD 9.72 billion. Google-owned site generated revenues were USD 7.73 billion or 67 percent of total Google revenues, a 15 percent increase over USD 6.74 billion in the third quarter 2011.

Google's partner sites generated revenues of USD 3.13 billion or 27 percent of total Google revenues in the third quarter of 2012, a 21 percent increase from USD 2.60 billion a year ago. Google revenues from outside the US totalled USD 6.11 billion, representing 53 percent of total Google revenues compared with 55 percent year-over-year.

Other cost of revenues, which is comprised primarily of data centre operational expenses, amortisation of intangible assets, content acquisition costs, credit card processing charges and manufacturing and inventory-related costs, increased to USD 3.78 billion or 27 percent of revenues for the third-quarter 2012 compared with USD 1.17 billion or 12 percent of revenues the previous year.
