Google has announced a number of feedback-based changes to its social networking platform Google+, starting with the decision to decouple Google+ profiles from YouTube. In a blog post entitled "Everything in its right place", Google admitted that "we made a few choices that, in hindsight, we’ve needed to rethink." Having already moved Google Photos out of the service, in a few months’ time users will no longer need a Google+ account to share videos or comment on YouTube. In addition, users will be able to remove their Google+ profiles from YouTube in the near future.
Google also announced that location sharing will be moved to tools such as Hangouts, "where it really belongs". Emphasising that Google+ will focus on "becoming a place where people engage around their shared interests, with the content and people who inspire them", Google said it would continue to add new features such as Google+ Collections to the service.
