Google revenues increase 36% in Q4
Google reported fourth-quarter revenues up 36 percent year-over-year to USD 14.42 billion. Operating income totaled USD 3.39 billion, down from USD 3.51 billion, while non-GAAP operating income rose to USD 4.27 billion, from USD 4.04 billion a year earlier. Net income, including a net loss from the sold Motorola Home activities, amounted to USD 8.62 per share, up from USD 8.22 in the year-ago quarter. 

Google revenues from advertising and other operations increased 22 percent in the fourth quarter to USD 12.91 billion, up from USD 10.58 billion. Google-owned sites generated revenues of USD 8.64 billion, up 18 percent from USD 7.29 billion. Google's partner sites revenues increased 19 percent to USD 3.44 billion from USD 2.88 billion a year earlier. Other revenues from Google totaled USD 829 million, up 102 percent from USD 410 million. 

Google's revenues from outside the US totaled USD 6.9 billion, or 54 percent of total revenues for the quarter. Google revenues from the UK remained flat at USD 1.30 billion, representing 10 percent of Google revenues. 

In the fourth quarter, the company recognised a benefit of USD 37 million to Google revenues through its foreign exchange risk management programme, up from USD 25 million the previous year. 

Aggregate paid clicks, which include clicks related to ads served on Google sites and the sites of its Network members, increased approximately 24 percent year-over-year. Average cost-per-click, which includes clicks related to ads served on Google sites and the sites of its Network members, decreased approximately 6 percent. 

Motorola Mobile revenues in the quarter totaled USD 1.51 billion, or 11 percent of consolidated revenues. Operating expenses, other than cost of revenues, were USD 4.81 billion, up from USD 3.38 billion. Amortisation expenses of acquisition-related intangible assets were USD 289 million. Of the USD 289 million, USD 153 million was a result of the acquisition of Motorola, of which USD 116 million was allocated to Google and USD 37 million was allocated to Motorola Mobile. 

GAAP operating income for Google totaled USD 3.75 billion, up from USD 3.51 billion year-over-year. The GAAP operating loss for Motorola Mobile was USD 353 million and non-GAAP operating loss totaled USD 152 million. 

Net cash provided by operating activities in the quarter totaled USD 4.67 billion, up from USD 3.92 billion, capital expenditures were USD 1.02 billion, and free cash flow totaled USD 3.65 billion. As of 31 December 2012, cash, cash equivalents and marketable securities were USD 48.1 billion.
