GVT CEO to take over as head of Telefonica Brasil
Telefonica Brasil has announced that Antonio Carlos Valente is leaving the presidency of the group after almost eight years. Amos Genish is taking over in his place. He is current president of GVT, a company recently acquired by the Spanish operator. Valente will continue at the company as chairman of the board of directors. The change will take place at the end of the first half of the year, when the merger of GVT with Telefonica is completed.

Telefonica Brasil sees delay to share issue

Telefonica Brazil said it may revise the timeline for its public offering of shares to finance the takeover of GVT. The company said it had been notified by securities regulator CVM of new requirements for allowing the bid registration, which will result in a delay to the preliminary prospectus. Telefonica Vivo confirms voluntary retirement programme

Brazilian operator Telefonica Vivo has confirmed it conducted a Voluntary Retirement Programme in February among its workforce in Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Minas Gerais, reports O Estado de Sao Paulo. Telefonica Brasil has announced plans for a share offering on 16 April to help close the acquisition of Brazilian broadband operator GVT from Vivendi. Telefonica waives TI rights to pave way for GVT takeover

Telefonica has formally waived its voting rights in Telecom Italia as part of the conditions required by Brazil's National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel) to grant approval for the Spanish company's acquisition of broadband operator GVT. Earlier this month the Brazilian regulator gave the go ahead for Telefonica to transfer 8.3 percent of its Telecom Italia voting shares to French media group Vivendi as part of the payment for GVT, as well as 11.3 percent of its preferential shares in Telefonica Brasil.

Telefonica Brasil changes digital services organisation

Brazilian operator Telefonica/Vivo is changing management at its digital services arm, reports Teletime. Roberto Piazza, the board member responsible for this area, is leaving the company, and the digital services management will be divided. Christian Gebara, director of the consumer market area, will take over responsibility for Vivo TV. The digital education and health services area will become the responsibility of the board for corporate services, Silvio Antunes.
