Huawei's brand Honor has announced details of its upcoming View20 flagship smartphone. Similar to Samsung's just-announced Galaxy A8s, Honor is planning to drop the top notch in favour of a 'punch hole' design to place the front camera in the 'All-View' display. In addition, the View20 will come with a 48-megapixel rear camera and the new Link Turbo technology to combine Wi-Fi and 4G networks for improved connectivity.
Honor said the 48-megapixel camera is a first in the industry, beating Huawei's recent P20 Pro with 40 megapixels, and will use a Sony IMX586 image sensor. The high-quality images are supported by the use of artificial intelligence and a powerful graphics processor based on Huawei's Kirin 980 chip.
The new Link Tubro technology also uses AI and big data to help the phone automatically pick the best network. It can switch automatically between 4G and Wi-Fi as well as use both networks at the same time to provide users with the fastest possible download speeds.
Finally, the new All-View screen drops the top notch popular on recent flagship phones in favour of inserting the front camera directly in the display in a tiny hole. This opens more space for viewing other content on the screen.
Honor announced the new features at the launch of its business in Hong Kong. The first phone to be offered in the new market is the Honor 10. More details on the View20 are expected early in the new year.
