HP appoints Whitman as president
HP's board of directors has appointed Meg Whitman as president and chief executive officer. In addition, Ray Lane has moved from non-executive chairman to executive chairman of the board of directors, and the board intends to appoint a lead independent director. These leadership appointments are effective immediately and follow the decision that Leo Apotheker step down as president and chief executive officer and resign as a director of the company. Whitman was a member of HP's board of directors for the past eight months.

HP sees further drop in profits in FY 2012

HP reported revenues for its fiscal fourth quarter to October down 3 percent from a year earlier to USD 32.1 billion. The operating margin dropped to 2.5 percent from 9.7 percent a year ago, and EPS plunged 89 percent to USD 0.12. HP to hold on to PC business

HP has decided to keep its PC business. The company announced in August that it would look at 'strategic alternatives' for its Personal Systems Group, at the same time as it halted production of mobile phones.
